MTV is trying to shake up the music industry, with a new series that explores the 80s and 90s.
The channel has teamed up with a host of musicians to launch the first season of “MTV’s New Music Generation,” a six-part series in which a panel of influential music historians discusses the history of the 80 and 90 years.
Each episode will focus on a genre and genre-bending musical moment from the era.
The first of the six episodes, called “The New Music Genre: 80s,” will explore the first decade of the genre, from 1980 to 1991, and features artists like Elton John, The Rolling Stones, The Grateful Dead, The Pixies, The Kinks and Bob Dylan.
It premieres on MTV on Tuesday, July 18.
The show will air on MTV2 on Thursday, July 20.
